ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: India Vs South Africa | Match Summary

India 230 for 4 (Rohit 122, Dhoni 34, Rabada 2-39) beat South Africa 227 for 9 (Morris 42, du Plessis 38, Bumrah 2-35) by 6 wickets in the 8thmatch of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at the Rose Bowl, Southampton on Wednesday.
India opened their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 campaign with a thumping win. While, on the other hand, South Africa suffered their 3rd loss in as many games of the same tournament.
After opting to bat 1st, the Proteas failed to get off to a good start and lost wickets in the regular intervals. Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav then put the brakes on the South Africans who crumbled against the leg-spin of the duo.
Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bowled the 2nd best performance by an Indian bowler on his ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 debut. He finished with figures of 4 for 51 in 10 overs. While India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah removed both South African openers with a breathtaking 5 over spell of 2-13.
As India was moving slowly towards the target, Rabada struck again in the 32nd over to send back KL Rahul at 26 after his 85-run stand for the 3rd wicket with Rohit Sharma. But, MS Dhoni supported Rohit well to pull off a solid victory for India.
After disciplined bowling attack restricts South Africa to a below-par 227 for 9. Rohit Sharma 122 led the run chase of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with a superb hundred as India reached the target with 15 balls to spare.
India played with an authority that supports their status among the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 favourites. While South Africa, who have now slumped to 3 defeats in 6 days, is already at the point of no return.
