Sourav Ganguly टीम इंडिया के एक बेहतरीन खिलाड़ी है। इन्होंने वर्ष तक टीम इंडिया की कप्तानी भी की है। जिसमें इन्होनें कई महत्वपूर्ण मैच टीम इंडिया को जिताए है। आज भी Sourav Ganguly और सचिन तेंडुलकर की साझेदारी का रिकॉर्ड कोई नहीं तोड़ पाया है। परन्तु हम आपको इनकी लाइफ में घटी एक भयानक घटना के बारें में बताएंगे। इस भयानक घटने में Sourav Ganguly के साथ नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू भी शामिल थे। आज भी जब Sourav Ganguly इस घटना को याद करते है तो वह बहुत डर जाते है। यह एक ऐसी घटना थी जिसमें Sourav Ganguly और नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू की जान तक जा सकती थी।
Sourav Ganguly के साथ यह घटना वर्ष 1996 में इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ चल रही टेस्ट सीरीज के दौरान घटी थी। क्या आप जानते है की Sourav Ganguly ने अपने टेस्ट करियर की शुरुआत भी इस ही टेस्ट मैच सीरीज से की थी। Sourav Gangulyने इस टेस्ट सीरीज में शानदार बल्लेबाजी की। तथा टीम इंडिया इस टेस्ट सीरीज को जीत पाने में सफल रही। Sourav Ganguly ने अपने पहली ही टेस्ट मैच में 131 रनों की कमाल की पारी खेली। तथा साथ ही Sourav Ganguly ने इस टेस्ट मैच में तीन विकेट भी अपने नाम किए थे। Sourav Ganguly के साथ ही राहुल द्रविड़ ने भी इस ही मैच में अपना डेब्यू किया था। राहुल ने अपने इस डेब्यू मैच में 95 रनों की बहुमूल्य पारी खेली थी। Sourav Ganguly अपने पहले ही मैच के बाद एक स्टार खिलाड़ी बन गए थे। क्योंकि अपनी पहली पारी में 131 तथा इस टेस्ट मैच की दूसरी पारी में Sourav Ganguly ने 48 रनों की पारी खेली थी।
इस ही टेस्ट मैच सीरीज के दौरान कुछ ऐसी अजीब से घटना घटी जिसनें Sourav Gangulyऔर नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू को डराकर रख दिया। इस घटना को यह दोनों ही खिलाड़ी तक नहीं भुला पाए है। टीम इंडिया को इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ खेले गए पहले टेस्ट मैच में हार का सामना करना पड़ा था। इस मैच के बाद Sourav Ganguly और नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू घूमने के लिए गए थे। दोनों खिलाडियों ने इंग्लैंड की लंदनट्यूब (मेट्रो) में यात्रा का भरपूर आनंद लिया। परन्तु उनका पता नहीं था की वह अब एक बड़ी मुसीबत में फसने वाले है। कुछ समय बाद इस ही मेट्रो में कुछ नशेड़ी युवक चढ़े। जिन्होनें Sourav Ganguly और नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू की ओर अभद्र इशारे करना शुरू कर दिया। जिसके बाद नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू को ऐसा लगा की वह हमें चिढ़ा रहे है क्योंकि टीम इंडिया को पहले ही टेस्ट में इंग्लैंड ने हरा दिया था।
हद तो तब हो गई जब एक युवक ने अपनी बियर की बोतल को नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू की ओर फेंका था। इसके बाद नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू को बहुत गुस्सा आया। गुस्से में वह उन नशेड़ी युवकों से उलझने लग गए। इतना ही नहीं यह मामला इतना बढ़ गया था की अगर थोड़ी देर तक और बहस होती तो बात हाथापाई तक पहुँच जाती।
कुछ देर बाद एक स्टेशन आया जहाँ पर सभी नशेड़ी युवक मेट्रो से नीचे उतर गए थे। परन्तु एक युयक मेट्रो से नहीं उतरा था। इतना ही इस युवक ने नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू की ओर बंदूक तान दी थी। परन्तु सिद्धू भी डरने वाले थे। वह भी इस युवक से भीड़ गए। यह विवाद इतना बढ़ गया था की Sourav Ganguly को आगे आना पड़ा। उन्होंने सबसे पहले तो नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू रोका और उनसे कहा की यह पीछे हट जाए क्योंकि वह युवक नशे में है तथा वह गोली चल सकता है।
Sourav Ganguly के समझाने के बाद नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू शांत हो गए तथा फिर Sourav Ganguly और नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू मेट्रो के फर्श पर लेट गए। जिसके बाद नशेड़ी युवक चलती ट्रैन से नीचे उतार गया। फिर बाद में स्टेशन आते है Sourav Ganguly और नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू भी उतार गए। जिसके बाद उन्होंने टैक्सी पकड़ी और तुरंत ही होटल की ओर रवाना हो गए।
